About Us

Dr. Alfred Vonetes formed VonCare in June 2014 as a full-service mental health outpatient practice in Orlando, FL. His mission was to create an  organization providing the highest quality of mental health services in the  United States. Looking to make the name VonCare synonymous with  unprecedented patient care, Dr. Vonetes sought and continues to seek providers who are concerned with building a strong rapport with their patients by being genuinely open, transparent, non-judgemental, and truly authentic. Too often providers are hindered by rules and policies of their employers to provide a level of care which is most beneficial to the patient. At VonCare each patient is invited to explore the resources our practice offers in an effort to form a therapeutic alliance with our providers and create goals which are most productive in meeting each individual’s specific needs. Join us on a journey towards a brighter way of providing mental health services where at VonCare we are taking the “pain” out of patient.

Dr. Vonetes has a Doctorate Degree and a Master Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University—Washington, D.C. A Masters Degree in General Psychology from Virginia State University and a BA Degree from Hampden – Sydney College where he played football and baseball.

He did a one year practicum at Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake, VA and a two year practicum at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. His Clinical Psychology Internship was done at Park Place Behavioral Health Care, Kissimmee, FL.

During Dr. Vonetes’ fist practicum experience, he worked at Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake, VA. Indian Creek is a non-voluntary substance abuse community. Dr. Vonetes helped form and lead groups. He provided psychological testing as well as conducted individual therapy with numerous inmates.

His second practicum experience, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. was done under the supervision of Michael Lynch, Ph.D.; Chief Tele-behavioral Psychologist. Most of his time at WRAMC was spent performing neuropsychological assessments with veterans, active duty members, and their families. Later, Dr. Vonetes worked at Fort-Belvoir, Alexandria, VA where he provided cognitive assessments to military soldiers during AIT. This was done as part of a study, in which Dr. Vonetes was testing the cognition of the control group. The experimental group’s cognitive assessment was later conducted over video teleconferencing (VTC) in an effort to understand the effects of VTC on cognitive testing and thus identify TBI related symptoms without the assessor physically having to be in the combat area.

Dr. Vonetes completed his internship at Park Place Behavioral Health Care, Kissimmee, FL. Park Place is a community mental health center. At Park Place Dr. Vonetes worked on the inpatient crisis unit for children and adults while administering suicide assessments and providing therapy in a separate juvenile detention center. While at Park place he also worked in a child/adolescent group home for troubled youth, provided outpatient therapy, formed/led groups for partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and performed individual and group substance abuse therapy in a rehabilitation community for adults.

Upon completion of his doctorate, Dr. Vonetes, worked at a special needs school as well as a Montessori school. He specialized in working with executive system deficits involved in ADHD. He has also worked with students on the Autism spectrum, Bipolar children, and terminally ill.

After completing his license, Dr. Vonetes worked for a company providing social security disability evaluations for the state of Florida. He later began working for a company to provide Compensation and Pension evaluations for veterans. Currently, Dr. Vonetes continues providing C&P evaluations to veterans for service connected mental health issues and has expanded his practice into multiple states. Dr. Vonetes has personally performed over 11,500 veteran evaluations and is highly regarded by combat veterans that continually say, “He really gets where we are and he cares!” Dr. V. believes that providing the proper care for our Veterans is a calling, not just a job.
